Health and Safety

AKN recognises that it has responsibilities for the health and safety of our workforce whilst at work and others who could be affected by our work activities. We will assess the hazards and risks faced by our workforce in the course of their work and take action to control those risks to an acceptable, tolerable level.

In addition to comprehensive training, a behavioural safety programme has been introduced, aimed at delivering a step change in performance to achieve outstanding safety results through the development of extraordinary leadership.

Our aim for everyone at AKN is to continuously strive to safeguard members of the public at all times and achieve zero injuries or harm to our staff and sub-contractors.

We investigate thoroughly all incidents and accidents, no matter its significance. Lessons learnt from these investigations are, and will be, communicated to all of our operatives and sub-contractors. Our goal is to prevent any such incidents happening again.

All on-site operatives, including sub-contractors, are provided with suitable and sufficient detail relating to the task to be performed and identification of the potential risks and control measures to eliminate, or reduce them. We have strict procedures in place to the supply and use of appropriate PPE, tools, materials and plant to be able to do their job safely.

We employ competent people who we provide training to in order to fulfil their potential. A substantial number of our staff have been with us for many years. New employees are vetted for their suitability for the task to be performed and monitored closely to ensure that they meet our goal of an accident and incident free environment.

We aim to ensure peace of mind to our clients, our staff and the community around us.
